2-3 Refine Search Strategies  
Are you finding enough information to answer your research question?  
Broaden your search terms or expand your question.  
Are you finding too much information?  
Narrow your search topic and adjust your research question to be more focused.  
Are there other search terms or keywords that you could be using?  
Try using some of the "see also" references in the databases.  
Are you using enough terms in your search phrase to target the information you are looking for?  
Try including descriptors to narrow the focus of your search.

Example: If you were looking for statistics on hurricanes that hit the state of Florida, you might try the search phrase:
 
  Florida - hurricane - wind - rain - intensity - statistics  
More options:  
  Try using the “advanced search” feature in the databases to include additional terms.  
  Try using Boolean operators (and, or, not) and wildcards (*) to limit or expand your searches.  
  Try using quotation marks around key phrases.
